Lewis Brothers Bakeries Inc. failed to protect the personal information of current and former employees that was exposed in a March ransomware attack and data breach, a proposed federal class action said.
Plaintiff Marissa Duffy alleged that Lewis Brothers failed to comply with industry data-security standards or FTC guidelines, and breached its duty to implement reasonable and adequate measures to protect sensitive data.
Information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, and possibly other kinds of data, according to a complaint filed May 17 in the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
