A Hyundai Transys unit collected the biometric information of employees through its fingerprint timekeeping system without their consent in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, a federal lawsuit said.
Six workers alleged that Hyundai Transys Georgia Seating System LLC required them to provide their fingerprint scans as a condition of employment and as part of the daily routine of working at its Illinois factory, but didn’t inform them it was retaining their biometric information or obtain their written consent.
