Hundreds of Suits From MoveIt Cyberattack Can Move Forward (1)

A federal judge allowed hundreds of cases to move forward stemming from a sprawling 2023 cyber campaign that exploited vulnerabilities in Progress Software Corp.’s MOVEit file-transfer application to compromise the data of thousands of organizations, including government agencies and major corporations.

US District Judge Allison D. Burroughs ruled that allegations of actual data misuse made by some plaintiffs following the attack were sufficient to establish standing for other plaintiffs, even those who didn’t claim misuse. Burroughs explained that the massive data breach, involving hundreds of software users and vendors, was a single incident by one cybercrime group.
