HP Hit With Lawsuit Over ‘Misleading’ Cookie Consent Banners

Six website users sued HP Inc. for allegedly using tracking tools to secretly collect their personal data despite promises that users could control data sharing.

The plaintiffs allege the website of the personal-computer maker deployed tracking pixels from companies like TikTok Inc., Meta Platforms Inc., Google LLC, Reddit Inc., and X Corp. that intercepted user communications even when visitors declined cookies or opted out of data sharing, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
