A national mortgage loan provider was hit with a proposed class action after 171,000 customers’ sensitive data was allegedly exposed in an August breach.
American Neighborhood Mortgage Acceptance Company, which does business as AnnieMac Home Mortgage, failed to properly safeguard data including Social Security numbers, according to a complaint filed Nov. 22 in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. The company faces five counts, including negligence and breach of fiduciary duty.
An unknown actor copied files with customers’ personal data from AnnieMac’s computer systems between Aug. 21 and Aug. 23, the complaint said.
