Health Network Sued After Vendor Hack Exposed Patients’ Data

Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network was hit with a proposed class action over a cyberattack against its IT services provider that exposed the medical information of nearly 300,000 patients.

AHN, a health system with 14 hospitals and more than 300 clinical locations, failed to protect the sensitive data of its patients, enabling the data breach against its networks, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

The complaint also names AHN subsidiaries Allegheny Health Network Home Medical Equipment LLC and Allegheny Health Network Home Infusion LLC, as well as IT vendor IntraSystems LLC. ...
