HBO Succeeds in Bid to Force Video Privacy Suit to Arbitration

Allegations that Home Box Office Inc. disclosed to Facebook the personal information of subscribers without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act must be heard by an arbitrator, a federal court ruled.

Angel McDaniel and Constance Simon claimed in the proposed class action that HBO disclosed their personal information through the Facebook pixel, a snippet of computer code allowing their Facebook IDs and video-viewing histories to be sent to the social media giant.
