Groups Seek High Court Review of Device Searches at U.S. Border

Digital and civil rights groups are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review U.S. border security officials’ ability to search travelers’ mobile phones and other digital devices without a warrant.

Device searches put travelers’ privacy rights at stake every time they cross the border, according to the Friday petition from the American Civil Liberties Union, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the ACLU of Massachusetts.
