Google Photos Privacy Case Stayed for Parallel State Court Suit

Google Inc. won its bid to pause a proposed biometric privacy class action levied against it after an Illinois federal judge found that staying the case would promote efficiency.

The federal lawsuit is stayed while an Illinois state court weighs a “virtually identical” parallel lawsuit against Google, Judge Edmond E. Chang wrote in an opinion filed Aug. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

David P. Milian, a partner at Carey Rodriguez Milian LLP who represents the plaintiffs and proposed class, declined to comment. Attorneys representing Google didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. ...
