Google Mobile App Case Over Spyware Partially Dismissed for Lack of Damages

Android mobile device users who alleged that Google Inc. used spyware in applications to collect their personally identifiable information without their knowledge and consent generally failed to adequately allege that the company’s actions damaged them, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California held March 26 in an unpublished opinion (Google Android Consumer Privacy Litigation, In re, N.D. Cal., 3:11-md-02264-JSW, 3/26/13).
