Google, Meta, H&R Block Accused of Pixel-Ad Criminal Scheme (1)

A trio of technology and tax companies collecting taxpayer information to build targeted advertising campaigns amounted to illegal organized crime, according to a proposed class action filed in a California federal court.

Alphabet Inc.'s Google, H&R Block Inc., and Facebook’s parent Meta Platforms Inc. disclosed consumers’ tax return data without their consent as part of a “misleading scheme” to grow their bottom line in violation of several federal laws, including the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, according to the lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the District of Northern California.
