Google Hit With Lawsuit Over Info Collection From Health Sites

Google LLC tracked, collected, and monetized the private health information of patients without their knowledge or consent in violation of federal and state law, user expectations, and its own promises, a new proposed federal class action said.

Google’s tracking code was deployed on the websites of 94% of health care providers in the US, allowing the company to collect health information about patients nationwide for the purpose of delivering targeted advertising to them, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
