Google Gets Dismissal of Android Data Transfer Class Action

Google LLC convinced a federal court in California to throw out a proposed class action alleging the tech giant designed its Android operating system to piggyback on consumers’ cellular networks to collect user information that’s used for ads.

Joseph Taylor and other plaintiffs sued Google in November 2020, alleging the company unlawfully took Android users’ property when it used their cellular data. The plaintiffs said Google took those actions “for its own financial benefit” and without informing users or seeking consent.
