The Federal Trade Commission should prioritize work on a pending update to its rules for protecting children’s privacy online, according to Republican Commissioner Christine Wilson.
FTC Chair Lina Khan, a Democrat, should make sure “sufficient resources” are directed to the agency’s effort to amend rules for complying with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, Wilson said in a statement Thursday. The law, known as COPPA, limits online platforms’ collection of information about kids under age 13.
