FTC Vacates Order Limiting AI Tool for Holding Back Innovation

The FTC reopened and set aside a 2024 consent order banning AI writing assistant Rytr from providing AI-enabled services that likely helped users writing false or misleading product reviews.

The consumer protection agency cited President Donald Trump’s AI Action Plan, which requires federal agencies to roll back rules and decisions placing undue burden on AI innovation. The Federal Trade Commission also found the original complaint made in the Biden administration failed to support violations of the FTC Act.
