FTC Plan Pivots Focus From Protecting ‘Consumers’ to ‘Public’

The Federal Trade Commission updated its strategic plans, vowing to crack down on abusive antitrust and deceptive practices that harm the public, particularly workers, consumers and small businesses in underserved communities.

The language changes in the new strategic plan for fiscal years 2022-2026, released Friday, largely reflect Chairwoman Lina Khan’s more expansive view of the role of antitrust enforcement, which in previous administrations focused on consumer benefits.
