FTC Bans Anonymous NGL Chat Application From Targeting Kids (1)

The Federal Trade Commission banned NGL Labs LLC from offering its product to minors and slapped the provider with a proposed $5 million fine for targeting children.

The FTC and District Attorney of Los Angeles County George Gascón joined efforts to bring the complaint, finding that the social media app violated the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, the California Unfair Competition Law, and the California False Advertising Law, according to a Tuesday filingin the US District Court for the Central District of California.
