Frontier Communications Sues Mobi Telecom Over Robocalls

Frontier Communications sued voice service provider Mobi Telecom, in Connecticut federal court alleging that the Wyoming-based company provides a “safe haven” for robocalls, and caused hundreds of Frontier customers to terminate their landline service.

The Federal Communications Commission requires voice service providers to either implement caller ID authentication or robocall mitigation practices in order to reduce illegal robocall traffic. But Frontier alleges that Mobi does nothing to verify that its subscribers are real, allowing robocallers to use its platform to place millions of illegal calls to Frontier landline consumers in Connecticut.
