A pact that allows companies to move data to the U.S. from the European Union may get a new referee.
The White House announced Jan. 18 that President Trump intends to nominate former DocuSign CEO Keith Krach to be undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment. The undersecretary is the designated ombudsperson for the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, handling requests and complaints about the voluntary program relied on by U.S. companies to transfer personal data from the EU to the U.S.
