Ford Fined in California Privacy Agency Connected Car Probe (2)

Ford Motor Co. agreed to pay a $375,703 fine to California’s privacy agency and make it easier for consumers to request that the company stops selling their personal data.

A settlement announced Thursday with Ford marks the California Privacy Protection Agency’s second enforcement action stemming from its investigative sweep into connected vehicles’ compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act.

The agency, known as CalPrivacy, found that Ford required consumers to confirm their identity before it’d process requests to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information between July 2023 and March 2024, which violated the state’s privacy ...
