Forbes Media LLC faces a proposed class action for allegedly violating a California wiretap law by transmitting reader data to third parties without their consent.
Forbes used trackers including those developed by LinkedIn Corp. and Microsoft Corp. to intercept identifying information without plaintiffs’ consent,including their IP addresses, according to the complaint filed Friday in the US District for the Northern District of California. Named plaintiffs Domenica Berman and Abygael Piehl are California residents that visited the Forbes website in the past year.
