Fincantieri Gets First Nod for $515,000 Data Breach Settlement

A shipbuilder utilized by the US Navy and Coast Guard secured a federal court’s preliminary approval of a deal to pay $515,000 to end a lawsuit by a class of employees and benefits recipients affected by a data breach.

Fincantieri Marine Group LLC suffered from a 2023 cyberattack. The suit raised questions over whether the shipbuilder failed to live up to a responsibility to protect the data of the approximately 16,769 class members.
