Fifth Third Bank, Others to Pay $50 Million Over Recorded Calls

Fifth Third Bank, Vantiv Inc., and National Processing Co., now known as WorldPay Inc., will together pay $50 million as part of a class settlement to resolve allegations of recorded telemarketing calls, under a deal given final approval by an Illinois federal judge.

A group of small business owners in California brought the class action in 2016 alleging that banks, including Fifth Third and Wells Fargo, hired telemarketers International Payment Services LLC and Ironwood Financial LLC to sell credit and debit card payment processing services.
