FCC Proposes Broadband Provider Rules to Ramp Up Security

Large US broadband providers should be required to implement and report on new measures to secure the technology they use to route information through internet infrastructure, the Federal Communications Commission proposed on Wednesday.

The new reporting requirements on Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) security would help the FCC and partner agencies bolster national security against bad actors seeking to disrupt internet services through vulnerabilities in the technology.
