Facebook’s Woes Shed Spotlight on Data-Sharing Pacts

The growing investigation into Facebook Inc.'s data-sharing practices shows the need for companies to scrutinize data-sharing arrangements to avoid criminal, civil, or regulatory scrutiny, former prosecutors and privacy attorneys told Bloomberg Law.

The Justice Department’s probe into Facebook has expanded to include a grand jury in the Eastern District of New York, which has subpoenaed records from at least two other technology companies that had data-sharing pacts with Facebook, The New York Times reported March 13. Facebook said in a statement on Twitter Inc. that it was cooperating with the DOJ investigation.
