Facebook Beats Some Data Breach Claims, Must Face Discovery (1)

Facebook Inc. will have to face its users’ request for information tied to a worldwide data breach that affected 2.7 million people in the U.S., a federal judge ruled.

Users sued Facebook after it disclosed in September 2018 that a security breach let hackers exploit a vulnerability in its code for a feature called “View As.” The vulnerability let cybercriminals steal Facebook access tokens—digital keys that keep people logged into the site—and take over users’ accounts.
