Facebook Beats Pair of Location Tracking Privacy Suits, For Now

Facebook Inc. defeated privacy claims by a proposed class of users who say the company continued tracking them after they turned off the website’s “Location History” feature, but claims by other users who alleged more significant tracking fared somewhat better, according to a ruling by a federal judge in California.

A privacy lawsuit led by Facebook user Brett Heeger fails for lack of standing, because Heeger alleged only that Facebook “collected plaintiffs’ IP addresses,” Judge James Donato of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled.
