A European Parliament committee backed draft proposals aimed at avoiding a repetition of the scandal in which the data of millions of Facebook users ended up in the hands of the political consultancy Cambridge Analytica.
The European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs on Oct. 10 backed the proposed measures, which include a thorough investigation by data protection regulators into Facebook and an update of competition rules to reflect the digital reality.
