EssilorLuxottica, Compare.com Fix Ad Privacy Flaws, Group Says (1)

Eyewear giant EssilorLuxottica and insurance site Compare.com fixed advertising privacy flaws with their websites to meet industry standards, a nonprofit business group said.

The two companies took steps to boost customers’ control of their data after the Digital Advertising Accountability Program found their websites fell short of its standards, according to a statement from the DAAP, a division of BBB National Programs.

EssilorLuxottica’s Ray-Ban and Oakley websites failed to provide adequate notice of targeted advertising and worked to create disclosure of third-party data collectors, the DAAP said. The France-based company also moved to curb collection of geolocation data, it said. ...
