Google Inc. could be required to pay 60,000 euros ($74,745) per day up to a ceiling of 15 million euros ($18.7 million) for breaching the Dutch Data Protection Act, according to a cease-and-desist order made public Dec. 15 by the Dutch Data Protection Authority (College bescherming persoonsgegevens, CBP).
Google contravenes Dutch data protection law by collecting the personal data of Internet users on the basis of insufficient consent and by combining data from different sources, such as search engine queries, video views or use of Google accounts, the CBP said.
