Dropbox Faces Lawsuit Over Breach of Digital Signing Product

Filing-sharing company Dropbox Inc. is the target of a proposed class action for alleged negligence and violating California consumers’ privacy after an April data breach exposed sensitive information.

Dropbox discovered a breach of Dropbox Sign, a product offering services to electronically sign legal documents, on April 24. Hackers accessed user information including emails, user names, and phone numbers. Those who received or signed a document through the product without signing up for an account were also exposed.

Dropbox notified consumers about the breach on May 1. The company didn’t say how many individuals were affected by the breach.
