The Trump administration’s Elon Musk-led effort to make the federal government more efficient has failed to respond quickly to Freedom of Information Act requests, a new federal lawsuit alleges.
American Oversight, a government transparency and accountability group, says that while it sent recent FOIA requests to Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency and the Office of Management and Budget seeking emails, text messages and other written e-communications between Musk or DOGE aides and 40 prominent members of Congress and congressional committees, the group hasn’t heard back at all from DOGE and insufficiently from OMB.
