AudienceView Ticketing Corp. is facing a proposed class action claiming the Canadian company negligently failed to protect consumer data and prevent a cyberattack that exposed the personal and financial data of over 13,000 US university students who had used its online ticketing platform.
College students suffered fraudulent account charges and identity theft after hackers posted personally identifiable information exfiltrated from AudienceView’s system—including unencrypted names, payment card numbers, and billing and e-mail addresses—on the dark web, according to the complaint filed Friday in US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
