New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) proposed new regulations Tuesday requiring data brokers to detail how they protect sensitive personal information.
Under the proposal, which was included in Hochul’s $260 billion budget, data brokers would be required to register annually with the Department of Financial Services and provide information about their data practices and the type of information they’re collecting. They would also have to inform consumers how to opt out of data sharing.
