A measure to change a 2023 law that gave Californians the ability to more conveniently delete their data from all brokers will not advance this legislative session.
State Sen. Scott Wilk (R) has withdrawn his bill (S.B. 1076) from Senate Judiciary Committee consideration before a key legislative deadline on Friday. State Sen. Tom Umberg (D), who chairs the committee, confirmed on Wednesday the bill wouldn’t make it past the deadline. The new law, named the Delete Act, needs to go fully into effect before making any changes, Umberg said.
