Dance Apparel Company Sued After 65,000 Customers’ Data Exposed

A leading provider of cheerleading and dance competition apparel failed to properly protect the private information of more than 65,000 customers potentially accessed by cybercriminals in a May data breach, a federal lawsuit said.

Varsity Brands Inc. lacked robust protocols to ensure its business email accounts were secure despite knowing the risks of cyberattacks, according to a proposed class action filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The apparel company faces negligence, breach of implied contract, and unjust enrichment claims, among others.
