Cyber Director Budget, Response Fund in Infrastructure Bill

The Senate’s bipartisan infrastructure measure includes $21 million for the Office of the National Cyber Director and a new $20 million fund to help public and private entities respond to cyberattacks.

Lawmakers have stressed the urgency of funding the newly created Office of the National Cyber Director following an uptick in massive ransomware and cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, including Colonial Pipeline Co., as well as widely used software systems from companies including SolarWinds Corp.
