CSL Plasma, Donors Reach $10 Million Biometric Privacy Suit Deal

CSL Plasma Inc. and people that scanned their fingerprints as part of its donor identification system have reached a $9.9 million deal to settle claims the plasma company violated Illinois biometric privacy law by collecting the scans without consent.

The settlement class would include approximately 75,000 individuals who scanned fingers at CSL Plasma facilities in Illinois between September 2014 and October 2019, attorneys representing the plasma donors wrote in a motion for preliminary approval filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
