Crazy Maple Studio Hit With Privacy Suit Over Meta Info Sharing

Streaming-video provider Crazy Maple Studio Inc. shared consumers’ video-watching histories with Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act and the California video-privacy law, a proposed federal class action said.

Lead plaintiff Marissa Porcuna alleged that Crazy Maple incorporated tracking technology from Meta’s Facebook unit on its website, allowing the social media company to collect users’ Facebook IDs and the titles of videos they watched there.

The lawsuit is the latest in a wave of litigation against providers of video content challenging their use of online tracking tools on their websites.
