Convergent Outsourcing Inc. would pay $2.45 million to resolve allegations it failed to protect the personal information of more than 640,000 people that was exposed in a June 2022 data breach, under a proposed deal filed in federal court.
Plaintiffs Leo Guy, Ryan Tanner, Magaly Granados, and five others alleged in the consolidated lawsuit that the debt-collection agency failed to implement adequate data-security measures, monitor its network for vulnerabilities and breaches, or warn of its inadequate practices.
