A new report from Connecticut’s attorney general provides the clearest picture yet of how state officials are enforcing new privacy laws mandating businesses disclose their data practices and give consumers the right to opt out of certain data uses.
Its findings could guide legislatures across the country pushing similar legislation as lawmakers are lobbied heavily by tech companies. Fourteen states now have comprehensive consumer privacy laws, with additional bills being debated in statehouses.
