Community Association Groups Denied Relief in Disclosure Suit

An organization that represents various community associations across the US lost their bid for injunctive relief in a suit challenging a federal law requiring the disclosure of personal information, a Virginia federal district court said.

The plaintiffs haven’t shown at this stage they are exempt from the Corporate Transparency Act’s reporting obligations, or that that the act’s requirements violate the US Constitution, Magistrate Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia said in a Thursday opinion, denying plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction.
