Coffee Meets Bagel Hit With Biometric Lawsuit Over User Selfies

Dating service Coffee Meets Bagel Inc. collected and disclosed the biometric information of members in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, a proposed federal class action said.

Kayla Moller alleged that CMB collected the biometric information of prospective members when they uploaded “selfies” during the sign-up process, and provided the information to a third-party identity-verification provider, Persona Identities Inc., without informing users, obtaining their written consent, or meeting other BIPA requirements.
