CNA Unit’s Breach Dispute Over Ransomware Paused For Mediation

A federal judge stayed a case against Continental Casualty Co., a CNA Financial Corp. subsidiary, over inadequate security that enabled a November ransomware attack exposing the insurer’s customer data.

US District Judge Georgia N. Alexakis granted parties’ joint motion to stay proceedings pending mediation, according to a docket entry Tuesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The order vacated all deadlines until parties are due to submit a status report on March 21.
