Clearview AI Data Processing Violates GDPR, German Regulator Says

Clearview AI’s data processing activities are illegal under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information said in an order requiring the company to delete information that can be used to identify a complainant.

The German authority said Jan. 27 that the result of its investigation, launched after the complaint of Matthias Marx, a German citizen, through Austria-based privacy protection group NOYB – European Center for Digital Rights about the data Clearview stored on him showed that the U.S. company infringed European rules.
