Citibank to Pay $29.5 Million in Unwanted Robocalls Settlement

Citibank NA agreed to pay $29.5 million to settle a class action alleging it made debt-collection robocalls in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, under a deal given initial approval by a federal court.

Members of a class of consumers who received calls from Citibank to wrong or reassigned cellular telephone numbers would receive between $350 and $850 each under the deal, an “outstanding result for class members,” according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary settlement approval.
