Children’s Privacy Compliance Groups Likely to See New FTC Rules

The Federal Trade Commission is likely to take a tougher look at self-regulatory programs for protecting children’s privacy as part of a planned update to its compliance rules.

The commission recently revoked its approval for one of the programs for the first time due to an alleged lack of oversight by Aristotle International Inc. The remaining self-regulatory programs could face new FTC rules as privacy advocates call for stricter scrutiny of their work.
