Children’s Advocates Urge Zuckerberg to Scrap Instagram for Kids (1)

Children’s advocacy groups are urging Facebook Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg to drop plans to launch a version of the company’s photo-sharing app Instagram for children, raising concerns over children’s privacy and well-being.

“While collecting valuable family data and cultivating a new generation of Instagram users may be good for Facebook’s bottom line, it will likely increase the use of Instagram by young children who are particularly vulnerable to the platform’s manipulative and exploitative features,” the groups said in a Thursday letter to Zuckerberg.
