Carnival Reaches $1.25M Data Breach Settlement With States

Carnival Cruise Lines has reached a $1.25m settlement with 45 states and the District of Colombia in the case of a data breach that compromised the personal information of 180,000 customers and employees in the US, New Jersey Acting Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced.

• Investigation found that Carnival’s data security program contributed to the initial breach
• Also found Carnival did not provide adequate notice of the breach to consumers and regulators
• Carnival also agreed to new provisions to strengthen data breach response practices
