California’s New Privacy Law Rules on Customer Data Take Effect

The first set of regulations for the California Privacy Rights Act went into effect on Wednesday, the Office of Administrative Law said in an email to Bloomberg Industry Group.

The OAL gave the final stamp of approval to the regulations on Wednesday and filed it with the Secretary of State, said the office. A rejection could have significantly delayed the timeline for new rules to come into effect.

The initial set of regulations primarily deal with the basics of the strengthened privacy law, such as how companies should give consumers the option to opt out of data collecting. ...
